If you’re looking for something Christmas-y to do with your kids, try making some Cinnamon Christmas Ornaments. Here’s the recipe:
Cinnamon Christmas Ornaments
3/4 – 1 cup of applesauce
about 12 ounces of cinnamon
Mix applesauce and cinnamon into a stiff dough. It’s not necessary to be too precise. If the dough seems too soft, add more cinnamon. If it seems too stiff, add a little applesauce. Roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Use a straw to make a hole at the top that you will use to thread a ribbon through so the ornament can be hung on the tree after it is dry. Carefully, place the ornaments on a rack to dry. Let them air dry for several days turning occassionally. It should make about 12 ornaments.
This is loads of fun to do with kids. I did it one year with 4 year olds when I was working in daycare during college. The ornaments smell AMAZING! Your entire house will smell wonderfully cinnamonny! You can use the ornaments for about 2-3 years before they get too crumbly.

I’ve made these 2x – first time like you did…2nd time (and did this about a week ago) I found a recipe that added some Elmers White Glue and baking the ornaments instead of letting them air dry.
So far – I have found the 2nd batch w/glue to have been more stable (we lost a lot of the air drying ones – crumbled and broke)…
