As much as I try to buy music for The Bean that I know I’ll be able to listen to over and over and over again, there are still times when the 47th time of hearing Larry the Cucumber sing I Love My Lips is more than I can take.
So what I’ve started doing when the Veggie Tales Silly Songs start up is adjust the settings so the music only plays in the speakers at the back of the car. Granted, I can still hear Larry, Bob, and the gang, but it’s MUCH quieter. As a bonus, T and I can hold a quiet, adult conversation in the front of the car without shouting over the music. It definitely Works For Me!

Have you tried Laurie Berkner? She’s wonderful and I’ve been known to listen even when the kids aren’t in the car. It’s not “Veggie Tales” but it’s not bad. The songs are funny and even have adult themes running through them without the kids knowing….Like the song “Doodlebugs” is about Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer….kinda funny to the adults listening but the kids don’t get the Seinfeld link….Check it out!!
(And I do the back speaker thing, too! It’s so nice to be able to do that!! It also works if the kids are watching a movie in the back{we go on some pretty long trips} and I turn it on for just the front)

I’ve become so accustomed to the noise of the kid’s music in the car that one day I found myself driving alone, Veggie Tales was still playing, and I was singing along! I felt like the biggest dork when I realized what I was doing. ;)

I’m with you on this! We started fading the kids’ music to the back of the van and it’s MUCH easier to carry on an adult conversation up front!
