Beanish and Other Languages I’m Learning

Just a place for my ramblings as I learn about being a mother and loving my daughter.

Party Favor Fun! July 13, 2008

The Bean came home with a bubble blowing contraption as her party favor from the birthday party.

My O My!  It is a huge hit!

See for yourself.

Terrible….Three’s???? July 7, 2008

Filed under: Beanishness, Random Head Noise — Kim @ 7:53 pm

The Bean has always been a fairly laid back child.  When I say that, I by no means am implying that she has never had meltdowns or pitched fits.  We see our share of those around our house.  In fact, I have noticed that the frequency of fits and whining and lying down on the floor in public places has dramatically increased in the past couple of months.

My theory is that The Bean has just hit the terrible two phase in her own timing.  We already know she marches to her own timetable.  Why should this be any different?

So far, she seems to respond best when I don’t get excited about her fits or lying down in the middle of the floor wherever we are.  Luckily, she usually just lies down and doesn’t scream or flail while she’s on the floor.  Still, it’s not my idea of fun.

Hopefully, this will soon pass.  Let me know if you have any tips to send my way!

Ya-Hoo! July 7, 2008

This past weekend, The Bean and I headed to the mall to see if they had anything worthwhile at the outlet shops.

As I turned onto the access ramp for the freeway and accelerated to merge with traffic, I hear a very enthusiastic “Ya-Hooo!” from the back seat.

The Bean may have NASCAR in her future!

A Sprouting Photographer? June 21, 2008

While we were waiting for the limo to be ready to head out and surprise my in-law’s for their 40th wedding anniversary, I occupied a hungry and tired Bean by letting her take some photos.

Here’s her portfolio.

Clearly, we’ve got to work on keeping our fingers off the lense when we shoot.  But I think she did just fine.  I especially like the one that is next-to-last.

A Slimy Afternoon June 8, 2008

After lunch and our fun morning at the park, we decided to do something inside during the warmest part of the day.  Amy’s post about slime sounded like so much fun, that The Bean and I mixed up a batch.  She played with it for nearly an hour and would have kept at it if I hadn’t needed to get her all washed up so I could get a couple of things done.

Of course, I had to take photos of all the fun.

We’ll definitely be having some slimy fun again!

The Silence Breaks June 8, 2008

We are still here.  It has been a VERY long couple of weeks here in the House of Bean.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back on track here with a normal routine.

The park is fast becoming my favorite place for taking pictures of The Bean.  We spent a good part of yesterday morning there so she could play in the water and expend a little energy.  Here are my favorites from the morning.

I think we’ll be regulars at the park all summer (and here on the Texas gulf coast, all fall too) long.

Swinging And Splashing May 26, 2008

Since T and I both had the day off, we headed over to the park this morning to enjoy some time with The Bean.  She had a blast.  See for yourself.

Okay, I had to include this one.  I can’t help but hear “a boot to the head” over and over in my brain.  Anyone know where that’s from?

Into the rabbit hole.

And she’s off!

Would you believe that after all that, she STILL didn’t take a nap this afternoon.  I’ve about decided that naps at home are pretty much a thing of the past.  She did have a blast though!

An End Of The Year Program For The Bean May 26, 2008

This is the first trickle in a virtual flood of blog posts after the drought around here for the past couple of weeks.  This post is one that I wanted to post a week or two ago.  But better late than never!

T and I were excited to attend The Bean’s first end of the year program at daycare.  We arrived just as the kids were starting into their first song.  It wasn’t long before The Bean spotted us and was waving and saying, “Hi, Mommy!” instead of singing.  She had a blast singing and doing her dances.  She also flashed everyone between numbers when she pulled her dress up.  Ahhhh memories!

Here she is on stage getting her certificate.  She was so proud.  Afterwards, she told us, “I practiced for two weeks!”

Sweet Bean May 5, 2008

Aunt Betty has been making some of these adorable little dresses for all of her granddaughters (our cousins) and was so sweet to make one for The Bean as well!  It arrived in the mail last week.  So I snapped a few photos of The Bean wearing her beautiful new dress to send to Aunt Betty.  Of course, I had to share them with you too!

Here’s her “I’m trying to avoid the Momparazzi” pose.

If you’re interested in a gorgeous dress like this for your little one. You can go to my aunt’s website, Grandma’s Little Angels, to get in touch with her.

The Bean Visits The Dentist April 17, 2008

Filed under: Beanishness — Kim @ 9:14 pm

Having just turned 3, it was time for The Bean to make her inagural visit to the dentist.  Since I had some minor work scheduled, I made an appointment at the same time for her to be seen.  T went with us to stay with her while they got me taken care of.

The day before her appointment, we talked about the dentist looking at our teeth to make sure they are healthy.  We practiced opening our mouth wide and talked about having her teeth counted.  It must have been a good build-up job, since as we were walking into the office, she said, “I’m excited!”

True to her “shy” nature, she tried to climb into the lap of a complete stranger in the waiting room.  Luckily, he was a good sport and just chuckled as T directed her away.  She had to check out all of the hygenist’s tools and especially enjoyed the little mirror.  She got an exam glove blown up as a balloon and picked a bouncy ball out of the surprise drawer.  All in all, as usual, she had a blast.  The only thing that we didn’t get on this visit were x-rays, so we’ll try again on her next visit.

The hygenist was kind enough to take a polaroid for us to document the occassion.
